Temporary Changes for 2017-18 School Year
What to Expect Next Year
Posted on 08/30/2017

Welcome back students, families and staff!

We’re ready and excited for the beginning of the new school year next Wednesday!

It’s easy to see that there are a lot of changes on our campus this year. Those changes include the need to:

  • Follow safety messages. Follow all signs, watch closely for changes and pay attention to announcements. Do NOT cross fence lines. Fences are there to protect you.

  • Use safe walking routes. Use designated routes to get from the gym portion of our building to classrooms. See below.

  • Listen for the new bell schedule. Visit our Bell Schedule page for times.

  • Eat lunch in the auxiliary gym.

  • Use temporary homes for the main office, bookkeeper, counseling, music room and principal’s office. Read below for details.

  • Enjoy new classrooms. Five new classrooms, including science labs, were built into the former library.

“I can assure you without any doubt that we have plenty of room for all our classes,” said Principal Rebecca Johnson. By using all our spaces every period during the day, we are able to accommodate all our students. The only additional portable that we needed was a large double-wide where our band program will be housed for the year.

Getting Around

Signs throughout the school will help you get around. In addition, here’s a map to show you where things are (click the map to download a pdf):

Wayfinding Map

Bus drop off areas have been paved and sidewalks widened, and there will be lots of staff during the first weeks of school to help with parking and direct you to the drop off and pick up location. We will be meeting busses and answering students questions, reviewing safety procedures and helping everyone find their way around.

Please be assured that that every staff member is ready and excited to see our Olympic High School students! We are committed to keeping your sons and daughters safe and supporting them with a fantastic year of learning and positive experiences.
