|WHAT DOES A COUNSELING PROGRAM DO AT THE HIGH SCHOOL?
A comprehensive high school counseling/guidance program provides the following services to students:
Academic planning: Goal setting, academic interventions, college planning, credit recovery, college testing registration, alternative programs, Dual credit in high school-AP, Running Start, College in the High School, Tech Prep credit.
Personal assistance: help with overcoming obstacles to be successful in school, problem solving, conflict resolution, testing anxiety,
Post high school planning: Helping students develop & solidify a plan for after graduation, taking the necessary steps to make that happen; taking advantage of opportunities, college & career planning, college admissions, apprenticeship programs, scholarships, professional/tech schools, ASVAB, financial aid,
Students are assigned to counselors by their last names.

2017-2018 Registration Timeline
|Registration has occurred. Counselors met with students in their English or History classes from Feb. 22nd-March 17th to register for the 2017-2018 school-year and were given Registration materials that were to be returned to school.
If your student has not yet registered, they must return the required Registration form & AP Contract (if applicable) signed by parent/guardian as soon as possible. Counselors will hold Make-Up Registration sessions during Tutorial for students with paperwork to input course selections until March 31st.

New-Join the OHS Counseling Department Google Classroom
Each grade-level has their own Google Classroom online, where publications & events will be posted and updated. Relevant & time-sensitive notifications will be sent out periodically. Students & parents join by entering their grade-level code. Still being updated...more info to come soon..

The secretaries and registrar in the Counseling Office assist students and parents with transcript requests, school enrollment/registration, immunization records, school attendance verification, new student orientation, student records, scholarships and general information.
Students can make appointments with their counselors by signing up in the Counseling office before or after school, or by getting a pass to be excused from class to meet with them.
