Biography
Hi, my name is Tim Fowler and I am a science instructor at Olympic High School, Silverdale, WA. I teach Biology and Biotechnology.
I was born in England in the county of Lincolnshire (think Iowa!). After high school (Queen Elizabeths Grammar School, Alford) I went to the University of Liverpool where I majored in Microbiology and Genetics. After that I was off to the University of Glasgow (Scotland) M.R.C. Virology Unit to get a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology.
Over 30 years ago I moved to the United States to do postdoctoral research in Developmental Molecular Biology at Berkeley, CA. in the lab of Dr. Steve Beckendorf. http://mcb.berkeley.edu/faculty/GEN/beckendorfs.html
After all of this school it was finally time to get a real job! I worked in the Biotechnology industry for 12 years. I worked at a Biotechnology company called Genencor. There I worked on making a variety of "green" biological enzyme products designed to replace harsher chemical processes.
It was at Berkeley where I met my beautiful wife, , and about 19 yrs ago Claire was born (Blakely School Spirit). We recently got a new Gordon Setter Pup called Jack. (Jack is now 4 years old)
For fun I like to ride Racebikes at the track. For a video of me and my friends on our bikes check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BkOWMXYMnQ , or, more recently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccRgGAQ9GBQ My friend, Barry, who takes the video, recently filmed his crash at Thunderhill: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZjMtXAuMtg
I also play guitar in several gigging bands like "Psycho Sushi" and Olympics own "Staff Infection" Check us out at the 2013 Multicultural Assembly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C86u_xSL-xo
Finally I like to spend as much time outside as possible (camping, fly-fishing, and gardening etc.)
