Construction Starts in Spring
Posted on 02/10/2017

After spring break, our school’s transformation will start in earnest.

This week, the Central Kitsap School Board gave the OK to architects and contractor to create construction documents. Those documents will include remodel details, down to the fixtures. Floor plans were approved in September.

The first phase of construction starts this spring. The library will be relocated. Inside the old library, crews will create new science labs and special education classrooms.

Over the summer, crews will start to demolish the middle section of the building. In its place, crews will build a two-story structure that gets students out of portables and into permanent, modern classrooms.

The new center section will be about 81,000 square feet. It will house career and technical classrooms, the library, music rooms, new main office, a counseling and career center, a theater and commons.

Construction will continue through the next school year. During construction, students and staff will use alternate entrances, a temporary lunchroom. Protected routes will be created between the gym and pool and classroom areas.

We will host an open house March 1. Stay tuned to our website for open house details.
