OHS Attendance Procedure & Helpful Hints!
Posted Date: 09/09/26 (11:26 AM)
Good Morning Trojan families,
As the year gets going we are having more absences and tardies and wanted to remind you of our process here at Oly! Our goal is to have every student here, on time, all day, every day. Here are some tips about our attendance process at OHS to make that a bit easier. Everything you need can be found on our OHS Website, or by calling our Attendance Secretary, Kristy Geary at 360-662-2700 (choose option #1 or entering ext. # 2730). If you prefer Spanish, Mrs. Geary is fluent and would love to help you!
- To clear an absence, or request a dismissal:
- Call OHS Attendance - Feel to leave a detailed message any time day or night. We check them, I promise!
- Send a note to school with your student - Doctor or Dental notes are encouraged whenever possible and required for athletes on a game day.
- Respond directly to your evening ParentSquare absence notification.
- Send a direct ParentSquare message to Kristy Geary or email her at KristyGe@ckschools.org
- Students are responsible for checking in with their teacher about missed assignments.
- Absences should be cleared within 48 hours.
- To request an Early Dismissal:
- Give us a call at least 30 min early to allow your student to be ready out front. We do not require a parent to come into the main office for checkout IF we hear from a Parent/Guardian directly. Sometimes we can go faster, but sometimes it really does take that long... thank you for your patience!
- Parents/Guardians are always welcome to come into the office for checkout, but it may take longer to locate your student and ready them for dismissal.
- Send a note, message or email to pre-arrange an early dismissal (up to a week ahead of time).
- Sick students are always able to call a parent for a pick up, but we will likely have them wait for their pick up time in class if they are able to. OHS Staff is working hard to keep students in class as much as possible.
- The Morning Drop-Offs can be a bit overwhelming, so please give yourself a bit of extra time to avoid our long 1st Period Tardy Line...
- A tardy of 10+ minutes counts as an absence and will appear as a "UNV" in Powerschool (unverfied absence).
- Please help us limit the amount of time your student is out of class. Lunch or item drop-offs can happen any time in the main office and a student can come and pick up their items between classes or on a break. Students should not use class time to take care of personal errands.
- We do not allow door dash items, as they often result in a student leaving class to pick up their items, resulting in a "CUT"
- Lunch Detention or additional consequences may be issued for a "CUT" (such as an off campus lunch). Early dismissals should be requested before a student leaves campus.
- Excessive Tardies will result in Lunch Detention or additional consequences from our Admin team.
- Bell Schedules for most days are available on our OHS Website
