Athletic Registration

Updated Oct. 7, 2020

Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) has shared a document that gives us authorization to restart school sports with the support of our local health district and our risk management organization. This document is based on new guidance from the governor, state health department, and risk management organizations.

At this time, we are working through the WIAA guidelines for which sports or activities are allowed. These return-to-play guidelines are based on
COVID-19 activity in each county. We will share more information about which sports will be available, and when they will begin practicing, as soon as possible.

To help ensure we’re ready, we are asking high school students only to begin registering for the tentative upcoming sports seasons. We are not asking you to pay fees at this time.

Athletic Eligibility

Our athletes must meet high standards of sportsmanship. They must also meet academic and other requirements. Our standards for eligibility are outlined in our athletic code. We require you to read this and other information, as well as fill out and turn in all required forms.

Students in Central Kitsap Virtual Academy, Running Start or at Barker Creek Community School are also eligible for participation. Please register with your attendance-area school or the school with which you previously competed.

We use a service called Final Forms for easy, online registration. Families will be asked to create an account, with options to register more than one student. We ask for:

  • Confirmation that you’ve read our eligibility requirements
  • Basic medical history and health information
  • Insurance company and policy number
  • Doctor, dentist, and medical specialist contact information
  • Hospital preference and contact information

Maintain Eligibility

To participate in sports, students must pass at least five classes in the previous semester of school, except for incoming 9th graders to their high schools. For fall sports, this is the second semester grades from the prior school year.  Student grades are checked at the beginning of each season. We also check grades every two weeks during each sports season for middle school sports, and every five weeks for high school sports.

We place players on academic probation if they are not passing five of their six current classes. If grades don’t improve by the next grade check, or if other grades dip below requirements during the season, we will place players on academic suspension.
